What is the Kanyini Space Services Mission?

The first of its kind in Australia, the Kanyini Space Services Mission satellite is being designed, built and tested in South Australia and launched into low-Earth orbit next year.

The Government of South Australia through the South Australian Space Industry Centre, SmartSat CRC, Myriota and Inovor Technologies.


How does this fit into our state’s space sector strategy?

South Australia’s own satellite is an important part of the state’s Space Sector Strategy, with timely, accurate and easily accessible space-derived data set to boost the productivity of the South Australian economy. The Mission is giving local space businesses an opportunity to collaborate on an exciting project and utilise world-leading technologies. The data and insights that will be captured by the satellite mission have the potential to deliver huge benefits to South Australian communities and businesses! Some of these benefits include aiding farmers in monitoring water levels so they can more accurately predict future crop yields and supporting emergency services personnel to monitor, manage and mitigate emergencies like bushfires.
